An entrepreneur's attitude is not the same as that of a salary earner. A wage earner must focus on his or her work and
not on the organisation. The entrepreneur, on the other hand, thinks and behaves in a different way. He/She considers
not only his/her own job, but also the work of the colleagues and the work required for the company's success. After
reading Rachna’s story, the attitudes of a successful entrepreneur are summarised as follows:
DECISIVENESS
Capability to make timely and beneficial
PERSEVERANCE judgments
Ability to persist in difficult situations
ORGANISATIONAL SKILLS
Successful
Ability to use time, energy, and resources
Entrepreneur
to achieve desired results.
INTERPERSONAL SKILLS
Ability to collaborate with others ENGAGING IN INITIATIVES
Capability to take the initiative and act in a
situation before others
4.9 ENTREPRENEURIAL COMPETENCIES
We will now learn about the qualities required for a person to develop an entrepreneurial mindset. Competence is
defined as the ability to perform something well. The following figure depicts the attitudes and skills required to be a
successful entrepreneur:

The journey to knowing our competencies begins with the knowledge of who we are. Every day we evolve and change.
We know what we like and what we don't. We make errors and then learn from them. It's vital to pause and reflect on
how we've evolved as humans through time. When we reflect on our lives, we may be overly harsh on ourselves at
times. We dislike it when we make mistakes and believe that we are unable to do something because of them. In such
situations, it is critical to remember to see ourselves through the eyes of those around us. They might have good things
to say about us. Let us learn about entrepreneurial attitudes.
4.9.1 Decisiveness
Decisiveness is the ability to make quick and profitable choices. How can an entrepreneur develop this skill? When it
comes to starting a business, decisiveness is the most vital quality to have. It is all about recognising and capitalising on
opportunities. An opportunity is a chance to do something, usually at the correct time or period.
